BIT (Behavioral Intervention Team)
The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is a multi-disciplinary group whose purpose is to deal with student "care" and "conduct" cases, whereby the focus is on supporting Graduate Students. The BIT meets regularly, is chaired by the Director of Graduate Development & Services, and includes members from various stakeholders around campus such as KAUST Health (KH), University Internal Services (UIS), Health, Student Counseling Services (SCS), graduate program coordinators (GPC) and faculty. The team's priority is the student's well-being and focuses on identifying and connecting students to the appropriate level of support services. To this aim, the BIT collects and integrates information from across the University so as to follow student behavior and needs over time with the ultimate goal of intervening proactively when possible. The BIT receives reports of worrying, disruptive, problematic or concerning behavior or misconduct regarding students; performs risk and needs assessments; and determines the best mechanisms for support, intervention, warning/notification and response. The team then deploys resources, coordinates follow-up and, collaborates with involved parties.
